The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) California Cooperative Snow Surveys (CCSS) program supports DWR’s water supply forecasting and flood management missions:
- One of DWR’s longest standing programs, a model of cooperation and collaboration
- Facilitates the cooperative sharing of data among California water management agencies
- Issues regular water supply forecasts each winter and spring
- Facilitates technical improvements in forecasting tools and technology
- Serves as a clearinghouse for dealing with challenges and taking advantage of opportunities for improvement
